Description

Original studio-issued script for Bones, the 2001 horror film starring Snoop Dogg in his first-ever leading role. This copy, dated September 1, 1999, is an early draft of the screenplay by Adam Simon and Tim Metcalfe, and comes directly from Snoop Dogg’s personal collection. The script predates the final production version—another of Snoop’s copies dated February 25, 2000 was previously offered in our Tha Shiznit Auction—making this one of the earliest known drafts to reach the artist.

Bones was produced by New Line Cinema and directed by Ernest Dickerson. A supernatural revenge story rooted in 1970s urban legend and 2000s horror aesthetics, it offered Snoop Dogg a platform to expand beyond music and into cinematic storytelling. Though the film earned mixed reviews on release, it has since developed a cult following for its unique genre crossover and stylized production. For Snoop, it marked the beginning of a long and varied film career—from horror to comedy, action, and animated voice work.

This studio script features a silver cardstock New Line Cinema cover, brass fasteners, and intact typewritten pages throughout. Dialogue pages include character interactions, scene directions, and script formatting typical of late-’90s studio drafts. The back cover exhibits significant water damage, visible discoloration, and paper degradation—expected for a script that remained in personal storage for over two decades.

As an artist-owned artifact from Snoop Dogg’s first major screen role, this early script offers insight into both the preproduction development of Bones and the emergence of Snoop as a film actor.
