Description
Presented to Antoine “DJ Yella” Carraby, this official RIAA Gold award recognizes over 500,000 certified sales of 100 Miles and Runnin’, the 1990 EP released by N.W.A. through Priority Records. This project marked the group’s first official release following the departure of Ice Cube and served as both a sonic bridge and a lyrical response to growing tensions within and outside the group.
The EP contained five tracks—including the title cut, which addressed Ice Cube’s exit directly—and helped reframe the group's identity as a quartet. DJ Yella and Dr. Dre handled full production duties, building on the soundscape of Straight Outta Compton with faster tempos, more complex arrangements, and sharper mix techniques. The track “Just Don’t Bite It” pushed lyrical boundaries even further and became one of the group's most controversial songs to date.
Commercially, the EP proved that N.W.A. could thrive without Cube—hitting the Billboard 200 and achieving Gold certification despite limited radio play or promotional support. For DJ Yella, the record represents a critical inflection point in both the group's evolution and his own production career.
The plaque features gold-colored vinyl and cassette elements, a reproduction of the 100 Miles and Runnin’ cover art, and an RIAA certification plate engraved with DJ Yella’s name. His signature appears on the outer glass of the framed award.
The sticker on the vinyl component is slightly lifting. Please refer to images for condition.
