While not directly commemorating Tony Gwynn himself, this particular example comes from his personal estate, making it a unique crossover between the civic history of Petco Park and the man most closely associated with Padres baseball. Gwynn, who spent his entire career with the franchise and later had Tony Gwynn Plaza named in his honor, would have had a strong connection to this effort—even if indirectly.
