This framed photo showcases the original concept sketch for the “Play Hard & Have Fun” mural honoring Tony Gwynn at Snapdragon Stadium, home of San Diego State University. The artwork was gifted to the Gwynn family and captures the core message that defined Gwynn’s approach to both life and baseball. The final mural was created by San Diego-based artist and designer Channin Fulton, who described her visual style as blending “San Diego beach and environmental motifs with a retro flair.” The tribute connects Gwynn’s Hall of Fame playing career with his lasting presence at SDSU, where he was both a standout student-athlete and longtime head baseball coach. His .338 career batting average remains the highest by any player since Ted Williams retired in 1960.
