On August 25, 1985, Tony Gwynn notched the 510th hit of his Major League career with a third-inning single off Dwight Gooden—then in the midst of one of the most dominant pitching seasons in MLB history. Gooden would finish the year with 24 wins and a 1.53 ERA, while Gwynn closed out the season batting .317 with an All-Star selection.

This baseball was produced after the fact to commemorate that milestone and was personally signed by Gwynn. It is not game-used and was not present on the field during the game. Rather, it is a post-career tribute piece, issued under the direction of the Tony Gwynn Estate to honor a specific achievement with verified provenance.
