Commemorative Baseball from Tony Gwynn’s 1,326th career hit, recorded on August 29, 1989 at Jack Murphy Stadium against the Montreal Expos. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Gwynn grounded a single to left field off Pascual Pérez, part of a 2-for-4 day that also included two stolen bases. His all-around performance helped San Diego secure a 2–1 victory.
The hit came during a season in which Gwynn led the National League in both batting average (.336) and hits (203), earning his fourth career batting title and further cementing his reputation as one of the game’s most consistent and technically precise hitters.
