Description

Created for PWHL Seattle’s 2025–26 Indigenous Peoples Celebration Unity Game, this hand-carved wooden paddle was commissioned by the team as part of its season-long Unity Games and theme night series. The game will take place on Sunday, December 21, at Climate Pledge Arena during a home matchup against Boston.

The paddle was made by David Wilson, a Lummi Nation elder, master carver, and educator who has spent over 30 years preserving and teaching Northwest Coast carving traditions. Based in Olympia, Washington, Wilson is widely respected for his mentorship of tribal youth through programs like Red Eagle Soaring and other Native education initiatives.

This one-of-one piece features a painted Red Eagle Soaring x PWHL Seattle design in the Coast Salish tradition. Commissioned specifically for the Unity Game, the paddle serves as a symbol of cultural resilience, community connection, and intergenerational knowledge.

All auction proceeds will benefit Red Eagle Soaring, supporting Indigenous youth through culturally grounded education, leadership development, and community programming.
